Raggi Ultravioletti

Raggi Ultravioletti

Of the UVA, UVB & UVC Ultra Violet radiation emitted by the Sun, the ozone layer only prevents UVC from reaching us. With 90% of UV able to penetrate through high altitude cloud, this, along with reflection from concrete, water and other surfaces adds to our overall exposure. So, just as protecting our skin from UV is important, the same is true for eyes.... Research studies have measured UV exposure at various times of the day and seasons. We now know that peak UV at the eyes occurs, not around the middle of the day, but during early morning and mid afternoon when the sun is lower in the sky. However, for winter, peak intensity as seen here, occurs instead at midday due to the sun's lower position in the sky. Even when non wrap around sunglasses are worn, UV reaches the eye from the side of the frame. UV exposure is associated with redness at the front of the eye and the development of cortical cataracts. There is increasing evidence suggesting a link between excessive UV exposure and macular degeneration. While awareness of products that offer skin protection is high, only 1 in every 10 people are aware of the potential impact of UV radiation on eye health. If you wear contact lenses, ask about UV blocking contacts. Protect your eyes all day and all year round.. - just as you do for your skin. Ask about wrap around sunglasses to look great and maintain the health of your eyes.
