Trattamento Eyelight
Before treating dry eye with Eye-Light, your practitioner will need to assess the severity of dry eye using a questionnaire and a series of dry eye tests. The one of the tests, known as Meibography, involves detailed imaging of the lipid producing glands in the eyelids using an infrared light. Meibography will determine the status of Meibomian glands. The severity of Meibomian gland dysfunction will be established from the screening. Intense Pulse Light therapy with Eye-Light has been shown to be an effective option for patients with dry eye due to Meibomian Gland Dysfunction. Before any treatment is commenced, the severity of MGD is input into the IPL machine. The first part of the treatment with the Eye-Light device is a simple 2-3 minute painless procedure where 5 pulses of light will be applied below each lower eyelid. The second step of treatment involves gentle stimulation of the Meibomian Glands. A mask will be placed over your face for 15 minutes. You will be asked to close your eyes and relax. Up to four treatments are required with most patients noticing an improvement after the first.
